Non-degree Programmes


The Aalto University School of Economics has a variety of degree programmes leading to the Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration (B.Sc. Bus. & Admin.) and Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration (M.Sc. Bus. & Admin.) degrees, and the Doctoral Programme for post-graduate students. Additionally, the School of Economics offers several non-degree programs open to anyone interested, such as:

  • MBA and EMBA Programmes
  • Information Technology Programme (ITP)

Open University

Open University courses are open to everyone regardless of their background or age. Open University offers individual courses, thus you can't take any degree at the Open University. Studying at the Open University is considered part-time and all-round educational, so general student benefits are not granted. Read more »

JOO Studies

JOO agreement allows a degree student (Bachelor's, Master's, Doctoral) at a Finnish university to apply for a temporary study right at another Finnish university.

INCOMING STUDENTS (Aalto University School of Economics as a receiving university)

Application Periods
- We use two application periods: (1) in April it is possible to apply for courses taught during the next fall and spring term (main JOO application period) and (2) in October it is possible to apply for courses taught in next spring term (complementary JOO application period). The courses available for JOO-students in the two admissions are always announced separately, about a month before the application deadline. The doctoral students may, within the application periods, apply other courses as well.
- Exceptions for the normal application periods: IDBM program and ITP summer program. Please note that it is also possible to apply to the Mikkeli Business Campus, for the elective International Business courses taught in English. Mikkeli campus has an ongoing application period unlike Helsinki campus. Courses are mainly 3 week intensive courses and they are also taught in summer. Complementary JOO application period in October 2011
The application period for courses taught in the Spring 2012 is held in October 2011 (complementary JOO application period).

MBA/EMBA

The Aalto MBA Programme is specially targeted for those professionals who aspire to be executives in a global context and are looking for boost or transition in their current career. Aalto Executive MBA programme is designed for those individuals with significant professional work experience. Applicants typically have 8-16 years of relevant professional experience, the average being 14 years.

The programme is targeted for talented women and men with strong management experience, leadership potential, steady career progression, and curiosity to learn more. Information Technology Programme

Information Technology Programme (ITP) 2011 - application period is now open!

The extent of the ITP is either 24 ECTS or 30 ECTS. The extent of each course is 6 ECTS. ITP is offered under the Department Information and Service Economy. There are two subprograms, which are formed as follows (course codes and names of the courses):

47C520 Achieving Strategic Advantage Through Distributed Technologies
47C58200 Managing Software and Service Business and
47C480 Business Project (primary course code for the project*)

If the students needs altogether 30 ects cr, (s)he may apply also for the course 47C58100 Book Exam.

47C58400 User Experience Design
47C58500 Prototyping and Implementation and
47C480 Business Project (primary course code for the project*)

If the students needs altogether 30 ects cr, (s)he may apply also for the course 47C58100 Book Exam.

*If the student has already previously completed one ITP project, (s)he should apply for the course 47C380 Information Technology Project instead of the course 47C480 Business Project.
